Hi,

We have a problem with smart client. After logging in, its loading the data and after that we are getting an error.
Please find the attachment.
Actually this problem came after the windows update in all the client PC's. Around 6 client PC's got restarted after windows update and after that this problem started. There is no problem with couple of client PC's which didn't get windows update.

Urgent assistance will be appreciated

Regards
Manoj

I got a hunch that it might be that the updated PC is fallen of your domain, somehow it is added to a domain it cannot contact or similar. Check it out.

Hi Bo,

Thanks for your update.

It looks to be in the same domain as earlier.

And i want add one more thing, i tried opening the smart client in the server by selecting local host and got the same error which i have attached.

Would it be possible to remove the server off the domain and add it back? The more I look at the exception the more I think it has to do with the domain. Perhaps this process would either solve the issue or reveal something.

If you create a basic user, does the basic user work?
Yours Sincerely, Bo Andersen

Manoj,

I think you have created a Support Case for this already (MSC148414). Pls don't file things twice, it does not speed up a solution... It's the same people handling both places :-)

Hi Torston,

Ok. Actually it was a high priority situation and i thought some different people will be handling this forum tech support.

Anyway, the issue has been solved. It happened because the SQL log DB was full without space. Once we gave some additional storage space, everything become normal.

Any suggestion on how to reduce DB usage? As of now events and logs are stored for 30 days only.

Manoj

You can reduce the number of log entries and and especially events through the Management Client, menu "Tools", "Option", "Server Logs" and "Event Server".

Note that changing these numbers does not have an immediate effect, as the retention time for existing events will not change if you change the event retention time in the settings.

Rgds,
Torsten

P.S. Apologies for the long delay. We have quite high a workload for the time being. The better that you managed to find it - not every Milestone partner would have been able to find it by themselves. My compliments!

Its Ok Torston.

Thanks for the compliment. You made my day.:)

Regarding Entries, it is 50000 for logs. For example if i change that to something like 10000 then, if there are more logs than 10000 that wont be going DB?

I would assume so. If things don't go as expected, you could create a support case, and a Backline Supporter could come online and have a look.

Hello Miguel,

Sorry to say, i didnt understand what you are trying to say.

However, i say tell you the cause for the problem which is stated. The problem happened the database drive was completely full and it didnt have any space in the drive for further storage. Once the Database drive got some free space, everything came back to normal.

I am not sure whether this can be useful in your case. Anyway just have a look

Thanks
