XProtect Go 2013 ver 2.5b
Xprotect Smart Client R2
Axis P5522E wireless camera

Server and client on same computer. Trying to view from same wireless network; not internet.

I can view the camera in Management Application when "preview" is used. I can enter the IP address of the camera in a web browser and see the picture and control the PTZ in the browser. I recieve the "Stopped" messsage in Smart Client with a frozen picture not taken from this camera. Client is logging into the server because I can change the name of the camera in Management and it reads the change in Client but will not show the picture. I am not recording; just viewing/monitoring.

I will be adding other cameras if I ever get this working.

Hej,

the Smart Client receives its video through the Recording Server, and the problem is between Recording Server and camera.
Management Application and Recording Server use different connections to the camera, so the video in the Management Application does not tell anything about the Recording Server problems.
Have you looked at the Recording Server log, any error message there?

Best rergards,
Torsten

You need to focus on the Recording Server only.

Pls. check if there is a folder "%PROGRAMDATA%\Milestone\Milestone Surveillance\dbcommands". If yes, rename it and see if it helps.

Thanks Torsten.

I do not have dbcommands file. I tried wiping all xprotect files and re-installed all software, this did not work. I then connected (hard wired) the camera to the same router as my computer (hard wire) and it worked perfectly. I will now focus on the wireless network that I am setting this up on.

My unsuccessful setup was:
Camera hard wired to Wireless Bridge
Computer hard wired to different Wireless Bridge
Both Wireless Bridges connected (wireless) to router

The network worked because the computer could access both bridges and the camera. The problem is this connection setup working in Xprotect Go.

Thanks for all your help and any suggestions you may have. I agree the problem was in the Recording Server, just dont know what it is yet.

is it possible the IP has been utilised before for a different camera. If possible I would
stop the recording server
remove or rename the devices.ini file within
C:\ProgramData\VideoDeviceDrivers\C_\Program Files (x86)\Milestone\Milestone Surveillance\devices
gointo the management applicaiton and access/set the camera settings on the camera
Then restart the recrording server.

Also could you confirm the driver the camera is added with and that it is on the latest firmware?
Kind regards

Justin

I am having a similar problem. I can see the cameras in management but not client. I have blue iris installed as well and it works fine. I have heard the audio mic can impact this but I do not have audio and it is not an option in management. I am about to scrap milestone. I like the fact that it isn't a system resource hog, but even after attempts to uninstall/reinstall it has the same bugs.

I am having a similar issue where I can view the camera (canon VB-C60) on the manager but not on any client (no matter how smart they claim to be). Based on what I have read on topic, I suspect the issue is with the recording server but I am stuck as to how to correct. I think perhaps this camera was used in a different hardware profile in the past but cant seem to confirm this either. Ideas? help!!! we are running professional R2 with 8.5 device pack... and we have several other vb-60's working just fine.
