First of all I had the problem of the install not working because I exited the install on the first try, but fixed that by following both the steps here: http://forum.milestonesy...izard-not-starting.aspx

But now once I run "VideoOS.Installer.Bootstrapper.exe" and after entering my license file I get the below error. (if I select trial instead of license file then program just exits with no msg's)

Note: I have deleted: Items from my temp folder and the strings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE\Milestone\Installation

Try to delete
- C:\Program Files\Milestone
- C:\Program Files(x96)\Milestone
- C:\ProgramData\Milestone
- C:\ProgramData\VideoDeviceDrivers
- registry keys named "Milestone" and "VideoOS"

Then try again.

Good luck,
Torsten

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already have version 2.1a but my registration has expired and that is why I am upgrading.

I have backed up my Config file but am still concerned that if I go ahead and delete all that was mentioned that I may loose some settings. Would that be the case or does the config file hold ALL my settings such as motion detection etc.

I must admit I would like to find the culprit rather than just remove all traces of Milestone and try again, that way we can help others in the future and fix the problem directly. (But I may just be lazy and end up deleting all traces and starting again) :p

As I have 2.1a running I will have to stop services before deleting folders.

Cheers,
Louis

We're actually releasing a 2.1b in the next 24 hours that I believe should solve this issue.
Kind regards

Justin

Cheers Justin,

I have been away and only just returned so did not get time to do a full delete as you suggested. That now leaves me in a position to try the new version straight over my current 2.1a version.

I've always been confused as which link and installer to use when installing GO. My two options are:

1) MilestoneXProtectProfessionalVMS_installer_x64.exe located here -> http://www.milestonesys....-You-Pages/XProtect-Go/

or

2) MilestoneAdvancedXProtectVMSSystemInstaller.exe located here -> http://www.milestonesys.com/downloads

Questions:
1) What's the difference ?
2) Is one newer than the other or more frequently updated ?
3) Why is there 2 such different links ?
4) You mention to install 2.1a but aren't we up to at least 2014 (8.6b)
5) Is the new version you mentioned out ? If so where do I find it ?

Sorry about the large amount of questions but they have been playing on my mind :)

Cheers,
Louis

Ah no problems questions are good!
Love questions!

1) one is an "offline" installer the other is "online"
2) no should be "in sync"
3) see #1
4) indeed should be the installer for 2.6b
5) the first installer you list should be the correct one.

Please install using http://www.milestonesys....-You-Pages/XProtect-Go/
Kind regards

Justin

Louis,

I wanted to compare these two istallers, but one of the two links is actually broken.
I will get back to you with an explanation

Hej Louis,

as promised, I found you an answer:

1) MilestoneXProtectProfessionalVMS_installer_x64.exe located here -> http://www.milestonesys....k-You-Pages/XProtect-Go/

ad (1) There should be no difference, but there might have been. It's a fault in our web page, and I have addressed it to the manager in question.
ad (2) Same as (1) - they should be updated at the same time.
ad (3) In order to make it easier for potential Go users to find the software and register themselves. As explained above, the link target should be the same, though. Same explanation as (1).

BTW, the link on the download page was broken last night, but has been fixed by now. You should get the most up-to-date Go 2014 SP1 from there.

Best regards,
Torsten

Hi Torsten,

Thankyou for your help.

I may have not explained myself clearly before so here is some picture, which may come in handy for you to escalate the issue.

Screenshot from http://www.milestonesys.com/downloads
Milestone Download Page

Screenshot from http://www.milestonesys....-You-Pages/XProtect-Go/
Xprotect Go Download Page

Files are different and I presume the "b" version from the downloads page of 927MB would be the newest (second Screenshot)
Download link: Links are different and currently the only way I know what version I am downloading
Filenames: Both the same which doesn't help me as a user know what version the file is.
Sizes: Different and labeled incorrectly

Cheers,
Louis

Thanx Louis,

but your explanation was very fine from the beginning, so I could get the right people to look into this (and they promised to fix it :-)

Rgds,
Torsten
