So, if I wanted to, could I set up different "zones" where if motion is detected, different things happen in different areas of the screen.

For example, zone minder allows for different things to happen when different zones of motion are detected on the same frame.

Can we do the same thing?

Not directly, as the system only allows for setting up one motion zone.
But if the camera device is able to send a hardware events for each zone, we can act on these events.

I get what you're saying, but that's a bit of a hack.

We cant expect our clients to maintain move zones across several platforms/devices and possible several different kinds of cameras with differing abilities and interfaces.

It has always seemed to me that this was a huge omission in the capabilities XProtect, especially since most other competing video surveillance products have this ability.

What are the odds that this functionality will be natively available at some point?
