Hi

How can I use axis camera’s defined events in xprotect?

I want to change some setting when preset reached event triggered that is not capable on milestone.

You could try to set up the camera sending a user-defined string to the Event Server (XPCO, XPET) or to the Recording Server (all other products).

In XProtect, you would handle this as a so-called Generic Event. Does this help?

What is listening port of generic event in XProtect?

Pls check the Administrators Manual. The port numbers are different between Advanced and Professional products.

Also, you need to do a bit of setup - each and every possible string coming in must be matched by an event definition.

I checked that. For TCP protocol and event server is 1235. I create an event in my axis camera to send a string (“ab”), set network addreess to client pc and port to 1235. In managment server create an generic event with default expression. Create a rule and set it’s event to my generic event. But in smart client I cant see action of this event.

What is issue?

Try to do investigate step by step:

  • Wireshark on port 1235 to see that something arrives when you think the camera has fired (in order to eliminate the camera while troubleshooting, you could use the Event Test Tool made by Milestone. It is a tiny little program which can send a raw event to anywhere).
  • Check the Event log in the Management Client
  • In the Smart Client, add an alarm list to any suitable view. While in Setup mode, go to the properties of the alarm list and change it to display raw events instead of alarms.
