Essential 2.1 shows all cameras on Smart Client but missing video on two over mobile and web client

We recently added to compatible cameras to our customer Essential 2.1 system. Had no problem registering and putting them online. Smart Client display the cameras just fine but when we open the view over mobile or web client those two new channels just display a black screen. No error message, just black screen with no video. I upgraded to the latest device pack and reinstalled mobile server with same results. All channels OK on Smart Client, and all but the two new cameras over mobile server.

We´re quite stuck in here and any help is greatly appreciated.

Best,

The Mobile Client resp. Web client uses port 8081 (unsecure) / 8082 (secure).

You must forward these ports to your Mobile server.

If you try to connect from with the LAN, it should work without problems.

Can you log on at all, i.e. are your credentials accepted?

Possibly, use an Milestone account with admin right to eliminate any account limitiations.

Hello there, the ports are forwared just fine since this is an existing working system. I can see all cameras over Mobile client both local and remote but not these new cameras we just installed. They do connect since no error message is displayed however the video is not there, just a black screen.

I opened webclient on the actual recording server and the issue persist, all cameras but two produce an image.

The wierd thing is that Smart client produces images on all cameras. Web and Mobile clients are the problem.

I checked credentials and the account do have access to all cameras.

Best,

Well, if you do not see any error message I must assume that your client does get a video stream - only that the video stream shows a black image. Weird, indeed.

Any exotic settings in the two new cameras which the Mobile Server cannot handle? What is the difference between the two new cameras and the existing cameras? H.264 vs. JPEG?

In order to see what is going on between Mobile client (web client) and Mobile Server, you could run the client on a different machine and then do a Wireshark trace on the server (use a capture filter for the client’s IP address). I would not be surprised if you indeed see a video stream.

A blunt approach: Allocate a new machine, install Mobile Server 2016 on it and hook it up to the Essential Server. Does this work better than the original Mobile Server?

So I finally figured out. I´m working remotely on this sever since is out of town and wasn’t paying enough attention to the small letters. Today working on a larger screen and after several dead-end tries I realized Smart Monitor was displaying these two cameras as STOPPED. I checked the cameras setting under Scheduling and Archiving and indeed, both two new cameras were set to Always Off, switch both to Always On a Viola! They are now streaming and recording just fine.

Thanks a lot for your help!
