Export Sample Application doesn't work when DNS isn't setup in network

I have found that when I click Export in the Export Sample application, it fails with “Recorder Offline..” error. It fails only when on a different server to the milestone server and if we don’t have DNS enabled. I remember posting question about a similair issue with analytic events and we were able to get around that by updating the event service to use IP Address. Can we do the same for the export functionality?
