Framework Driver - Edge recordings

Hello,

Our Orb Driver has gotten to the point where clients would like to have edge recordings working on it. Is there a way to load video data into the driver (or directly in the Milestone recordings database) several hours back?

We need to be able to add data from SD cards for example to replace the bad quality footage with high quality footage when the device gets on a better network.

Demo driver sample might be helpful for you, it supports edge retrieval so you might want to look there for inspiration from it.

Few more questions:

  • Is it possible to mimic all interconnect functions using the Driver Framework?
  • Can we send a sequence of frames with a very old timestamp to fill in the recording DB or replace existing low quality footage? Can we also do this with metadata?
  • How exactly does the PlaybackManager work? Is it only for showing a stream in the playback tab and use the buttons or can it also be used to load/replace video into the recording DB?
  • Can you please confirm we can use an unlimited number of camera devices (each channel needs a license now right?) and metadata channel?
  • If no to the DB questions, what would it take to replace a cameras video/metadata recordings with better quality footage from a different server? Is it possible to manipulate the BLK files?

Hi Eric,

1. Let us say, it is possible to mimic all device related functions.

2. No, this is not possible to send a sequence of frames with a very old timestamp. Neither do metadata.

3. It can be used to load and playback video but not to replace.

4. If you use 2021 R1 VMS then yes.

5. It is not possible to manipulate the BLK files.
