Hardware Input Events

I have a Axis P3707-PE 360 camera. I am trying to setup milestone to use the camera motions detection. It works fine for camera 1 window 1, but the other 3 cameras never trigger a Hardware Input Event. I have tried all of the Camera Input Events.

Randall,

I understand that the P3707 supports “View windows” which in Milestone are seen as individual cameras, a bit like cameras on an encoder.

However, in order to advise you, I would like to clarify which way of motion detection you are using: “By camera” or “by Recording Server”? I know by experience that these two are hard to distinguish because the corresponding events are shown within the same window “Input Events”.

The easiest way would be if you could upload a screenshot of the dialog box (and highligth the ones you use.).

Rgds,

Torsten

I believe I am using “By Camera”. I am using the Axis Visual Motion 3 application on the camera. Then I added an input Input Event for Camera 1 Window 1 for the Device. This works on the camera 1 for the P3707-PE camera.

But when I add an Input Event on the Device for Camera 2 Window 1, the event never triggers. I have tried all the Cameras and Windows and only the Input Event for Camera 1 Windows 1 triggers.

I would upload the Recording Properites box screenshot but neither the image button or pasting the image does not seem to work.

Got it.

Randall, I am a bit confused. I would have expected that the different cameras are either mapped into Milestone as different cameras or as different Windows. But you mention different cameras and windows… I think I need to establish my own setup and see. I will get back.

They are seperate cameras under 1 device.

And under the input events you have different cameras and input windows:

Now on an Axis 241Q Blade Video Server using the built in motion detection, I setup an input Event for each camera and window 1. The input event trigger for all the cameras. And it has 4 cameras under 1 device.

Just to note, the P3707-PE camera only has 1 IP address for all 4 cameras. So I thought it would work similary to the Blade Video Server.

I hope this clarifies some things.

It does clarify things. I have set up my own P3707 and realized it is a four-lense (i.e. four-sensor) camera. However, it will be shown in exactly the same way as a 4 channel encoder or an Axis AreaView cam (1 sensor, 4 windows): In all cases it will be 1 piece of hardware, and underneath you see 4 cameras. With this clarified, I will now set up motion detection events and see if I can make it work. I will get back here.

I found something strange. The Event setup in XProtect offers 4 cameras with 4 windows each. The problem is just that the P3707 only has 4 cameras with 1 motion detection window each. This is telling me that the XProtect driver does not consider the specifics of the P3707.

I will experiment with it a bit. Possibly, this will end in a support case with Milestone Technical Support.

Problem demystified.

With Device Pack 8.2 (the one installed with 2016): Only motion events from first camera.

With Device Pack 8.7: Motion events from all cameras, window 1. Pls try an upgrade of the Device Pack. If it still does not work, it must be something different, and you should consider filing a support case.

Have a nice weekend!

It appears the Device Pack 8.7 fixed the issue. I have setup 2 of the P3707-PE cameras to work with the Input Motion Event for all 4 cameras. I previously had Device Pack 8.5.

Good to hear that. Pls mark this thread as solved

I would mark this as solved, but I cannot figure out how to mark it as solved. I cannot find an option for this.

Do you have anything like “Best answer” ?
