First I’ll usually create a rule to generate a Rule Log entry when the generic event is triggered. Alternatively, create an alarm definition with the generic event as the trigger.
To then trigger the generic event, you just need to send a matching message over the network. This can be done with telnet or third party tools like Packet Sender. I also added some tools in MilestonePSTools for testing Generic Events. Here’s a little demo video showing how to use it.
