When we trigger events in Milestone we are not seeing them show in the search filter under events. What is Milestone looking for here? What do we need to send to Milestone in order to search for events we trigger?

Please check if you associate your events with cameras. If not, event search would not work. Let me explain with pictures. In Alarm Manager tab, I selected a User-Define Event that is no associated cameras ( see the red circle area, there is no video. This means there is no associated cameras). In this case, I can not do Event search with the event( Event ID, Source) in the Search tab.
On the other hand, when I select an Analytics Event which is associated with a camera, I can use the search function using the event ID.
It can be also available to use source as well for the search.
Thank you Rie for the explanation. We are not using alarms but using user defined events with cameras defined in metadata. Any way to make that work or does it have to be analytics events?
Unfortunately, userdefine event can not be associated cameras. Instead, when you have an event that can be associate with cameras(fx, AnalyticsEvents), then the event can be available for the search.
If you want to check if your event is associated with cameras, then please see Alarm Manager tab in the Smart Client. Please make sure to change the settings from Alarm to Event (see below picture) and click an event in the list and see if you can see video in the video area that I mentioned in the previous answer.
Hi Rie, it does look like some of the UDE do have a camera mapped and the video does populate in alarm manager if set to event. See below image. I am not yet sure why only some are mapped in the alarm manager but even so, these events with a mapped camera do not show in the search tab. Is this still the expected outcome? Thank you!
Hi Ronen,
In Alarm search tab you will not see thumbnails for events that does not have a video recorded for the camera that is associated with them by the time the Alarm was triggered. That could explain why for some you see, for others you don’t.
For example, If you have a camera with “Default record on motion” rule, in case there is an Alarm(which has this cameras either as a source device of the event or as a related device) which occurs while there is no motion, hence there is no recording, then in the Alarm Search you will not get results.
I hope this information helps.
