Integrate external alarm device

Hi,

I am new on Milestone Platform and there is a lot of documentation to use. I need some info about how to inject into Milestone alarms from external device.

Actually my device support Modbus and SNMP and I have also both connectors in C#, but I can use also C++.

As far I understood should be possible to inject events/alarms to Milestone platform, is it right ?

I Installed Milestone and SDK and I am trying to interface Event Server, and I should send alarm through Event Server.

To be clear: I have event for alarm ON and Alarm OFF so I suppose to create two events (analytics one) and combine both to manage an alarm. Am I right ? or I have to use different configuration ?

Once alarm is active on Milestone I have to connect camera and maybe set a specific preposition.

Something is working, I mean. I am using XProtect+ and i was missing some right configuration, and after reading your pdf now seems better, now I am able to send event on event server and this is great job (log show that events are received). Thanks Bo.

Next step.

  1. I am not able to see on Smart Client Alarm Viewer, maybe I am missing some pkg.
  2. I configured alarm but I dont see alarm generated by event (maybe configuration is wrong)
  3. PLC send event when alarm is OPEN and later different one when it is CLEARED. Not clear to me how to combine them to open and then clear alarm on Milestone, is it possible?

  1. Not all XProtect have the Alarm Manager capabilities. XProtect Essential+ does not. https://www.milestonesys.com/globalassets/materials/documents/product_updates/2017_r3/xprotect_vms_2017_r3_comparison_chart.pdf
  2. Maybe it is wrong, perhaps you can show a screen capture of the Alarm Definition you are using, if something is wrong it is most likely there in this setup.
  3. XProtect has the ability to auto-close alarms, but only on a select few triggering events. As an example if you have an alarm on Motion Detected, the alarm can auto-close on Motion Stopped event. Unfortunately you cannot set this up when using user-defined or analytics events, you cannot configure auto-close in alarm definitions for these types of events. The alternative is to have an alarm that says the Clear event happened, an operator would then be able to clear both alarms..

  1. Yes actually I am using for test XProtect Essential+ but I should switch to XProtect Express+. But for development / test I need test license, right?
  2. Yes, there was an error in configuration now seem works correctly.
  3. Ok, I understand and customer should close alarm manually on smart client, no problem at all.

Whereas XProtect Esssential+ is free XProtect Express+ is not.
