Is there an article for safely reformatting a video drive without losing recorded video?

I have two record servers that have the video drive formatted at 4k, having issues with them. I have been advised to reformat those video drives to 64k. Is there an article that outlines the steps to take? I would need to save the recorded video, move the saved recorded video somewhere else, reformat the current video drive to 64k then move the recorded video back. I tried formatting this query in a variety of ways but have not found anything.
