Modify the behaviour of the camera add on in Maps

Hello - I want to modify the behaviour of the camera icon that is added to MAPS. I need it to execute custom code and fetch a video stream that is selected dynamically, based on conditions evaluated by code. Is this possible?

No, unfortunately it is not possible, not supported.

Dear Bo - Thank you for your very timely responses. To qualify that question further, what we are trying to do is illustrated in the attachment. We want to write a custom “Floating Window” plugin for MAPS, in which we control which recording server to ask for the video feed. Is this possible?

Regards

In an XProtect VMS a camera has only one recording server and in failover recording server usage scenarios the replace of the recording server happens behind the scenes automatically. Now I suspect you have cheated the system by adding the same camera twice in two different recording servers, which basically to the system then are two different cameras. However unfortunately this all boils down to the camera icon on the map refers to one camera and the camera on the map not being opened to customaization via the MIP SDK.

Thanks for your response.

I am assuming that once the fail over server takes over, all the clients that the primary recording server was servicing - Smart Client live, Smart Client Playback, Maps etc will now be serviced by the failover server without the user having to do anything.

Are there any cases in which the user may want to add the same camera to two recording servers?

Your assumption on failover server is correct.

Adding the camera to two recording server is not really supported and users use the built-in failover recording server functionailty instead for security/redundancy.
