No video on network with high latencies ?

On network (like satellite) with high latency or random latency (400 ms to 1200 ms or more) the XProtect Smart Client mostly shows the message “Server lost connection to camera” (Live video frequently drops out).

Is it possible to use supervision tool (SmartClient or web client) with such latencies ?

If yes, what settings’s tricks should be used to be able to see video ?

Best regards

There is no straight forward response to this. It depends on camera frame rate and bit rate, but also varies with the individual device and driver. The normal tolerance level is ~5-10 seconds latency.

In general, we recommend using as low numbers as you can afford in these circumstances. Also experiment using UDP if possible.

For the Client connections, we are more flexible, and most problems are solved by increasing the buffer of the Smart Client (in Setup mode) → for each View element → Properties → Video buffering.
