Hello,
I’m using a Milestone Corporate 10.0a. After deleting an hardware device, I couldn’t retrieve recorded videos (I didn’t know that the delete hardware operation also deletes video associated to that device - mea culpa).
At this point, I want to know if data remains in memory and in some way I can retrieve it. Is it possible?
I also tried to use a recovery software: it found removed data (blk and idx files). After that, I added into Milestone the device I previously removed, but I can’t see recorded videos. What can I do?
Thanks.
The footage is deleted (per the warning), but it is in theory possible, providing all files are recoverable. Try these steps:
- Stop the recorder immediately
- Restore the Mediadatabase folder to another drive
- From the Mediadatabase folder, copy the .XML files to the folder as well
- Import with the Smart Client Player “Player.exe” (in Smart Client install folder)
If this works, you can restore the folder to the Live/archive path, but you will have to delete the **archives_cache.**xml and/or **cache.**xml files. These will be rebuilt when the Recording Server start up, and please note that this could take quite a long time (as long as it takes to read thru all media files/folders)
Alternatively, you can leave the folder offline, and play/export on request, using the Smart Client Player.
Hello Michael,
thank you for your reply.
I’m trying to follow the procedure you wrote: I stopped the recording server, then I copy the .xml file into the folder I restored. When I try to lauch the SmartClient-Player.exe file (in /Player), an error occurred: “VideoOS has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.”
What’s wrong? Is there some passage I don’t understand?
Thanks in advance.
Andrea
