Server recording no motion video

Hi,

Since updating to 2016 i’ve noticed an odd issue with the way video is recorded. All our cameras are set to use motion detection and that works fine, but the server now seems to be recording video long after motion stops and its not even live video, it records the greyed out no motion screen. This means the timeline bar stays red with no gaps even though it hasn’t actually recorded live video. Has anyone else experienced this?

We also experience ghosting on the new client on live view which never used to happen on the previous version and sometimes the ‘no motion’ box is displayed when there is clearly loads of motion going on in the background.

thanks,

Matt

This is definitely not a known error, and may require a bit deeper anaysis, so raising a Support case may be the quickest way to resolve.

I assume you’re using hardware motion detection, so the question is whether the cameras actually do send the motion stop event, which will be logged in the Recording Server log (right click the Recorder system tray icon)

Also check the camera configuration (web interface) if the VMD Motion start- and stop events are present.

I’ve raised a support case with MS directly so i’ll keep this updated too. The event seems fine and you can see the marker in the top right of the video going red and green as it detects motion. It makes reviewing video very difficult as the timeline , although not a solid red bar seems to contain lots of red that isnt actually video.

Nothing yet, but MS are working on it…
