StableFPS - Smart Client Shows "Connection to server is lost. Reconnecting..." When I Select an Installed StableFPS Camera

  • This is all on a single machine with the firewall turned off.
  • I believe I correctly followed the “How to make your own StableFPS video” document.
  • I believe I correctly installed the StableFPS driver and added the hardware.
  • Perhaps it’s a configuration issue? But I don’t know where to begin with that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

One thing I did notice is that hovering over one of the cameras in the Recording Server view in the Management Client, it says, “License is invalid” for some reason? I’m using a demo version of XProtect for development purposes, and I’ve activated the licence (I’ve had this previously working with the DirectShow driver). And, it’s only on some of the cameras. So I’m a bit confused by this.

Any thoughts?

Regarding StableFPS, have you read this? ReadMe document page from 14 (installation) to page 21 might be helpful for you.

About the license, you need to activate your license in Management Client. Start Management Client – see License Information and Activate the license in the picture below.

It could be also helpful to contact with License Chat - https://www.milestonesys.com/support/contact-us/license-chat/

Looks like it was the fact that licenses weren’t being auto-applied, and I guess I had too many “cameras” in StableFPS (wasn’t clear to me).

If I play a smaller video (say, ~35MB), it plays just fine.

However, with a file that is ~600MB big (still underneath the limit of StableFPS, and there’s only the one active camera), what happens is that the Management Client shows the particular camera I’ve limited the recording server to as “playing” (the green play icon appears), but no preview comes up, and if I connect via the Smart Client, it says, “Connected to server”, but doesn’t play any video.

After some time, I get “connection is broken”. This process is repeatable by restarting the recording server.

I’ve also followed the installation guide as closely as possible, as well as the “How to make your own StableFPS video” as noted in the original question. I’ve also confirmed that the RAW stream is playable in VLC.

The system I’m running this on has 16GB of RAM, but based on what I see in the task manager, there’s still plenty of room.

What else can I do to troubleshoot?

The issue sounds like server spec or server load issue and as this is not related to software development with the MIP SDK, which is the focus of this forum, please ask again in the support community, you should get better help from the partners using the support community.
