Using LPR license, direction

Hi, how can i discriminate the direction of transit with the lpr license?

Otherwise using a single way to enter and exit I would have the generation of the passing event also at the exit …

Thanks for the help

Could you be able to elaborate on question?

Can you provide us with more information with example.

Provide us with use case, what are you trying to achieve?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have an lpr camera installed near a gate, which reads the number plates of vehicles entering or exiting, from the same street (two-way alternating).

I need that when a vehicle enters with a license plate present in the “authorized list” an event is generated, that closes an exit that commands the opening of a second gate.

The problem is that the LPR module reads both entrance and exit vehicles (from the rear license plate) and I don’t want that an outgoing car generate an event.

However, I cannot understand how to discriminate the direction of passage of a car (entry or exit) … maybe this is not possible? Need some additional plugins?

Hi Igor,

thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately there is no easy way to check direction of the car with 1 camera, we do not store data for the direction of vehicle. Having 2 cameras pointing to different direction and some rules could work but you would have to write some code to check which list vehicle is in.

Thanks for the reply.

This is really bad, Milestone is the software with the most plugins and I love its fluidity but you don’t have such a basic function?

With two cameras I guess the algorithm is to check where the license plate is recognized first …

Is it possible that there isn’t a plugin that verifies the direction of the vehicle? It would be enough to recognize the license plate twice and calculate the direction from the first to the second recognition… really basic

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response, i can confirm we do not store direction of vehicle at present.

What you could use is https://www.briefcam.com/resources/videos/detecting-traffic-violations-with-briefcam/ they do store the direction.
