What is the difference between Bookmark and MarkedData in SOAP integration?

I can retrieve a bookmark created through BookmarkCreate using MarkedDataGet.

Are Bookmarks a special type of MarkedData?

Bookmarks and Evidence Locks are types of MarkedData records. Evidence Locks have a retention property while bookmark retention is governed by the normal video retention. Both have records tracked by the Management Server under the same parent type called MarkedData.
