Antivirus exclusions for VictoriaLogs and OpenTelemetry in XProtect 2026 R2

Hi,

I would like to confirm the antivirus exclusion requirements for XProtect 2026 R2.

Since XProtect now uses VictoriaLogs and OpenTelemetry for logging, we would like to confirm the following:

  1. Are any additional antivirus exclusions required for VictoriaLogs or OpenTelemetry?

  2. If the VictoriaLogs log storage location is changed from the default location to a custom folder, should the custom folder also be excluded from antivirus scanning?

  3. Are there any specific VictoriaLogs or OpenTelemetry processes that Milestone recommends excluding from antivirus real-time scanning?

The antivirus exclusion recommendations in the 2026 R2 documentation appear to be unchanged from previous versions, so we would like to confirm whether any additional exclusions are required for the new logging architecture.

Thank you for your help.

No additional antivirus exclusions specific to VictoriaLogs or OpenTelemetry are currently documented for Milestone XProtect® 2026 R2.

The existing antivirus recommendations already exclude:

C:\Program Files\Milestone

including its subfolders. The default VictoriaLogs data and configuration location is:

%ProgramFiles%\Milestone\VictoriaLogs

Therefore, the default VictoriaLogs location is already covered by the existing exclusion.

This forum focuses on software development using the MIP SDK and XProtect integrations. Since your question relates to OpenTelemetry logging rather than SDK development, our Support team is better equipped to help.
