Briefcam Server Sleeping

Hey Folks,

I did a solar powered surveillance trailer for the police department which is in testing now. I think it would be good to have the Xprotect server run and record obviously all the time but have my RapidReview server go to sleep when it’s not being utilized.. Having both servers running in my solar powered surveillance trailer isn’t practical due to the amount of power consumed having both things running.

It would be a great feature if lets say a person clicked on “Rapid Review” tab on the smart client the Briefcam server would send a magic packet making the AI server boot up and be ready to be utilized and then when the server was done the case has been completed it would send a command for the server to go to sleep.

Hi @Jordan Mortenson

Interesting case, and Input taken, and actually this may already be possible with the next version of Rapid REVIEW 2024 M1…

The thing is that the BriefCam Milestone Embedded Client plugin for the XProtect Smart Client have been modified, so that it does not login to the server until the operator enters the Rapid REVIEW tab, whereas in previous versions, it would login when the user is starting the Smart Client.

The Connection also times out and requires users to login if there is no activety for a certain amount of time, so without knowing this for a fact, i think the use case you describe is already possible, if you just setup the Rapid REVIEW server to go to sleep when there is no activity, and wake up again on network requests…!
