I believe you mean RTMP rather than RMTP, and the answer is no - there is currently no native support for receiving a feed over RTMP. And since the Enterprise codebase is end-of-life, the only option on E-code is to use a service like Wowza to transcode to RTP/RTSP. Their software/service works quite well but I find it pretty clunky compared to the user experience of simply adding a device to a recording server.
On the Corporate codebase, there’s no native support for RTMP but as of 2019 R3 it is possible to write your own device driver plugins, so one could build their own camera driver with RTMP support.
And perhaps the time will come when RTMP is supported natively? I haven’t heard anything, but given its the protocol of choice for the more popular drone platforms it seems like there could be a good business justification to consider it.
Due to the very reason you mention in the last paragraph of your answer Joshua, I have been looking all over the place for a solution to be able to land a RTMP-stream from our drones in our Milestone-environment.
Today I came across this (new to me) option:
https://orbnetsys.com/ORBDriver
Could this be a solution…?
Would be awesome!
I do not have enough rights in our system to try this out myself, so I hope someone else is able to test it and respond in this topic.
I could make a stream from a drone available for test purposes. Let me know.
I’m very curious…
The team at Orbnet are fantastic - I would reach out to them directly and see what they can do to help you vet their integration for your needs. Not sure if they’ll ingest your drone feed for you to test it, but there’s a good chance they can do that for you or at least provide a trial so you can test it on your own small test instance.
