cannot login to XProtect management client 2020 R2

I have

  • a fresh install of the free version of XProtect 2020 R2 on win10. (latest download)
  • installed from an admin account main_user
  • created an auxiliary account (aux_user) with admin rights on the computer
  • added the main_user and aux_user as users of XProtect during installation using the same password as used in windows.
  • during installation all encryption and certificates are de-selected.

Opening XProtect management client 2020 R2 after all this, no matter which account and login authentication i select i get the error:

Failed to connect, check the username and password.

The entered user name and password _is_ correct.

I use localhost as server (has also tried with the ip address) and I am logged in on the machine on which all software is installed. I have tried with login as aux_user. No change.

Same issue with XProtect Smart Client 2020 R2.

Hope someone has a hint as this is very frustrating to install a software which can’t even be opened.
