Developing a plug-in for our own Access Control System

I want to develop a plug-in allowing our own Access Control System to be used within Milestone XProtect and i was wondering if the access control module (XProtect Access) is worthing buying or can we develop a plug-in without it just by using the documentation.

I know both are possible but my question is which one is offering the best price-quality ratio ?

I am asking this question because XProtect Access is offering the possibility to Disable alarms using a map and show an overview of what doors are opened or closed, therefore you can lock or unlock a door by clicking on an icon. Flyout notifications can come up when an event happens (for exemple the door stay closed) with the possibility to identify the person (using the card reader) and open the door. So, is it possible to develop a tool as powerful as this one without using the XProtect Access module or is it too time-consuming ?

Being a Milestone employee I am naturally biased. I believe the functionality you mention is well worth the cost. I have not seen any partners trying to implement flyout notifications etc. but simpler integrations (mainly before the introduction of Access framework) have been seen.

I wonder if we can have partners that might have experience comment here…

Thank you for your quick support, i think i will use XProtect Access.

I have one last question : I need the Milestone VMS where i will activate both the access base license (~130€) and as many access door licenses (~40€ each) as i have doors ?

This does sound as the correct way to count the licenses. Perhaps you can contact Milestone Sales for a quote.
