I am working with our Chief Security Office to develop a disaster recovery process in the event that we have to restore our Milestone xProtect Expert 2018 R1 installation.
I inherited this application when a co-worker departed our institution recently and I was surprised to see the current process only creates a back up of the management server every 10 days. This does not feel sufficient as it neglects to back up the data on the three recording servers and database server.
Reading the documentation, I get the impression that I should be making manual backups of the SQL database regularly and when significant configuration changes are made.
I can’t seem to find any information about how to handle the data on the recording servers though.
So, my question is, does anyone have any insight as to what a proper disaster recovery process would look like? Do I need to actually do the manual backup of the SQL database or can I have my systems team do regular backups of the entire server environments for each server and just restore from those?
Thanks in advance for any information!
