I am working on a project where there are hundreds of similar generic events. My question is: it is possible to generate generic events and related alarms via code using Configuration API? If yes, there is any sample or description of item properties.

It is not possible to create, read or edit generic events (setup definition) or alarm definitions currently. The Configuration API does not have methods for this. It is on the wishlist for future enhancements to the Configuration API. While setup of generic events is in the planned pipeline there is currently no plan or schedule for alarm definitions.
I have made request on your behalf that the enhancement to the Configuration API get prioritized.
