Hi !, we are working with Professional + 2017 R2 and need to keep a low transfer rate between recording servers and management server (distributed installation in big retail chain).

The problem is that in the control room with operators, if they want to visualize several cameras of one store, the BW consuption is too high. We have not found any way posible in which Milestone uses one H264 low resolution for a view with several cameras and high resolution H264 stream for a maximized camera. For some reason, Milestone provides MJPEG lower resolution if selected int the properties of the smart client.

There is a pluging called “Dynamic Stream” that performs this but is not working for us.

As we all know, MJPEG requires 4-6 times de H264 bitrate and I can not figure out why Milestone re-compresses the video to MJPEG instead of H264.

Does anyone has experience with this or with Dynamic Stream Selection plugin ?

I do not know “Dynamic Stream”

A good idea would be to have set up the camera with two H264 streams, and use one stream in maximized view and another stream in regular view. A prerequisite for such a plug-in that could do this would be that the camera is correctly configured in the Management Client so that there is two streams with the correct properties, and the plug-in knows to pick them out.

Speaking of the “Dynamic Stream” which I do not know, might it work perfectly if you setup the camera in the Management Client in a different way making sure the streams are correctly configured?

There is such a plugin already that works as you describe. I will try to find someone that can make it work.
