How we can use stored data from SSD to playback recording instead of Milestone Server Recording?

Hi,

We have some cameras recording on SSD (in Customized format, it is not in standard MP4 or MKV format). Now we would like to use those data for camera Playback.

How we can provide custom data provider for camera playback?

If you implement a driver framework driver and implement support for edge storage you can simply use the “Play back recording from remote system”

thanks for the feedback. it seems it will implement dummy camera using driver framework and that will communicate with edge storage of actual camera.

Our use cases it little bit different.

We would like to add actual camera into Milestone. sometime we are taking SSD from camera and connect to PC.

Now we want to play the camera recording from SSD without adding new hardware.

Please suggest

You can create Smart Client plugins that will present stuff that comes from sources that has nothing to do with the XProtect VMS.

You must in that case implement you own presentation, the ImageViewerWpfControl will only work for video from XProtect.

Smart Client plugins can do anything that you can develop using .Net Framework!

Yes we can implement anything using Smart Client plugins.

We asked this query to check is there any way into Milestone without developing Plugin.

No, there is no option to make the Smart Client play video from somewhere else outside XProtect.

I have an idea that when you ask the Developer Forum we have to assume that you want to develop some new functionality. Had you asked the Support Community the partners using the Support Community might have answered purely based on existing functionality rather than the developer perspective.

The risk is of course that you get the answer you could develop a plugin and was asked to ask again in the Developer Forum instead.
