We are currently building a camera system using XProtect.
At present, in order to view one month of recorded video in Smart Client, we store archived data on a storage server that is separate from the recording server.
We are planning to migrate our storage server due to a Windows Server OS upgrade.
After the migration, we intend to change the archive storage destination from the current storage server to a new storage server.
In this case, will it still be possible to access video data that was archived on the existing storage server prior to the migration through Smart Client?
Migrating archived footage is not necessary, as the recording server can use multiple locations until they no longer hold video data within the retention period. It is automatic that the recording server uses the new archive for the data in that archive and the older archive for the data in that archive.

I attempted to change the archive storage location, but the following warning message was displayed.
It appears that if I proceed, all recordings will be moved to the new storage server.
In your previous response, you mentioned that “the recording server can use multiple locations.” Based on this behavior, it seems that there may be a discrepancy with that explanation.
Could you please clarify whether my understanding is correct? Alternatively, are there any prerequisite settings required to enable the use of multiple storage locations?
Additionally, the message states that “all recordings in the archive database will be moved to the new location.”
Does “all recordings” refer to all video data within the specific archive (recording storage) being modified?
Or does it mean all recordings stored on the same recording server, regardless of which storage they reside in?
Message: “You are about to move the archive database to a new location.
All recordings in the archive database will be moved to the new location, and this may take a long time to complete.
You cannot change archive settings while the move is in progress.
Do you want to continue moving the archive database?”
