Installing XProtect Management Server on a Windows 2012 R2 Cluster pair

I have a customer who is planning to run the Management Server element of XProtect on a Windows 2012 R2 Failover Cluster pair. The SQL database will also reside on that Cluster. Which installation of SQL is best to use in this scenario??

Hi Ted,

The current latest versions of XProtect Corporate and Expert will support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and newer (including 2012 and 2014).

Milestone does not make any statement or claim as to which version is preferable, though my personal opinion would be to use SQL Server 2014 to take advantage of the latest bug fixes and code improvements from Microsoft.

Hello Steffin,

Specifically I am trying to equate the screens from pages 255-257 to my Windows 2012 R2 Cluster. The Admin Manual describes a procedure for “Configure A Service or Application” which doesn’t exist in the saem form in 2012 R2. I am also going to check the forums. Do I need to create a new Role and then add these 3 Services as resources? That seems to be the logical equivalent but I have not been successful thus far?

Thanks!
