iphone app will not connect to mobile server when on wifi

Good day!

Since the new iOS update a few days ago, the Milestone Mobile app will not show my cameras if I am connected via wifi. It connects to the server and the “Loading Views” and “Loading Cameras” message pops up and then hangs. The only way to stop the app is to go back to the home page (double-tap the home button) and kill the app. If I shut off the wifi and connect via cellular service, it boots and loads the views and cameras normally. At this point, if I turn the wifi back on, it will use the wifi to stream the video. This problem only occurs if you are running the app for the first time after shutting it down. If you re-open it after you get it running, it works fine. I’ve tried this on 2 different iphones.

The work-around is not a huge deal, but I thought I would post it in case other users ran into the same issue.

I’m using the following:

Xprotect Corp 7.0d

Mobile Server 2.7d (527)

iPhone 6+ 9.3.2 Milestone Mobile 2016 R2 (10.1.3)

iPhone 6 9.3.2 Milestone Mobile 2016 R2 (10.1.3)

Due to the enhanced security for Apples iOS, as well as for the Milestone Mobile Apps, you may need to upgrade the Mobile Server.

This goes for Android and Windows Mobile clients as well.

Latest Milestone Mobile Server 2016 R2 much recommended.

Upgrading the Mobile Server will add new and improved feature (including hardware acceleration) and does not involve licensing, as it is license-free.

Hi Michael,

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. Just to confirm, I’m still running Corp 7.0d. Will the new version of the mobile server work with the older version of Corp? Also, will there be any benefit of using the new Smart Client or should I wait until I upgrade the entire system to 2016? Thanks again!

Hi Jason,

I tried with my iPhone 6, 9.3.2 as well, in Mobile 2016 and all fine and dandy. I could see the video stream correctly through WIFI.

Michael,

I updated the Mobile Server and that definitely helped with the iphone app problem. I can view video via cellular and wifi with no issues. There is one issue though. In the management client, under Mobile servers, there is a yellow dot next to “the server is accessible through the internet.” Obviously it’s getting out to the internet because I can see it on the app and the web client. Also, when I right click on the mobile server icon in the system tray it wont let me look at the logs or launch the web client locally. It says “this operation requires a connection to a surveillance server.” Is this because I’m not running the most current version of the management and recording servers or do you think it can be another config issue?
