Hi,
we would need to run the HikVision metadata plugin, in order to show the bounding boxes on top of HIKVISION ONVIF video streams.
The process requires to add a single MIP Driver device generating a single metadata stream for each single real ONVIF camera.
Do we need to consume 2 Device Licenses ( plus optional Care subscriptions if used) for each physical camera?
It seems unreasonable to double license everything if really so.
Which is the policy for licensing the MIP driver devices?
If you have a video coming from a camera the camera will need a license.
If you have metadata coming from a MIP driver based device/application this will need a license.
If you have the camera implemented in a way where it supports a metadata channel on the driver and this will appear in Milestone XProtect as one device (with camera+ metadata channel and possibly microphone, speaker and I/O) this hardware device is only needing one license.
The licensing is consistent that it counts devices, but this means if you have multiple devices because you use the MIP driver devices you will use multiple licenses.
You will probably be able to get guidance on how to have a metadata channel on a ONVIF driver on out camera partner program: https://www.milestonesys.com/community/become-a-partner/camera-partner/
