Onvif Bridge live stream

Hi, i have installed Milestone onvif bridge server and i have installed onvif Client in same network where onvif bridge server is running .Now i can able to achieve the live stream of camera which are configured in milestone server in web browser using the url generated by onvif client .Now i need to acess the url outside the network .How can i achieve this. Help me on this topic.

You will normally have an Onvif bridge in your DMZ and then open ports. You have an ONVIF port and a RTSP port, you can see them in the Management Client on same page as user settings, per default ONVIF port is 580 and RTSP port is 554.

thanks, some cameras are not showing properly sometimes in ONVIF device manager eventhough it correctly showing in milestone smart client.

what is the use of Onvif user credentials in user settings.

I want to assign only specific camera to the ONVIF created user. How to do that?

Help (F1) say -

Configuring the Milestone ONVIF Bridge

Configure user settings for an ONVIF client

Before you can complete these steps, you must have already created a basic user in Management Client, or a Windows user in Active Directory for the ONVIF client. The user must be assigned to a role that has permission to view cameras and access the Milestone ONVIF Bridge. For more information, see Setting up Milestone ONVIF Bridge security controls. For information about how to set up a basic user in Management Client, see the Help for those programs.

To provide an ONVIF client access to your XProtect video management software, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Management Client.
  2. Expand Servers, select ONVIF Bridge, and then select the bridge you just added.
  3. On the User settings tab, enter the domain user name (domain/user) and the password of the dedicated user created for the ONVIF client.
  4. Click the Add user button.

The name of the ONVIF client user appears in the list of ONVIF user credentials.

So the ONVIF user fits a user setup on the regular Roles in the Management Client. The Role is then where the user gets its permissions for the cameras. It is curious but there was a technical explanation for the users being “duplicates” having to exist in the regular setup and in the Onvif Bridge setup, unfortunately I do not remember the explanation.

I understand this but what is the use of adding new user in user settings really i cannot understand.Because in Onvif service while opening configuration it showing username and password which is basic user.so the role is like the Basic user can enter into onvif bride server and that user can add multiple onvif client users.I have created two user in user setting tab by add user.Is these users can able to access onvif bridge now through onvif client.could you please explain.?

So you create a user in the regular system under Roles and User, then in the ONVIF Bridge you add the same user again.

A user in the regular system will not be able to use ONVIF Bridge before added to the ONVIF Bridge also. A user added to ONVIF Bridge that does not exist as a user in the regular setup will not work.

If you experience a behavior that is different I would be curious to know the details.

The role the user is added to is key to what cameras they can see and what they can do beyond seeing cameras. If you have a user in the administrators role that user can do it all; create users, delete cameras etc. You should be careful to have a role that is a match for what the user should be allowed.

thanks for information it is useful.
