ONVIF Bridge Service never starts and does not show up under Servers in Milestone Management Client

I recently installed ONVIF Bridge Device Manager to get live streams from cameras connected to my Milestone VMS. The ONVIF service neither gets started nor can be restarted error in the logs:

30-01-2018 16-54-43.091: Info - Initializing VMS components

30-01-2018 16-54-44.179: Error - GlobalInit: error, System.Exception: ONVIF Bridge Not allowed with free surveillance at VideoOS.OnvifGateway.OnvifMipLibrary.OnvifMipLibraryClass.GlobalInit(String aServerAddr, String aAdminusername, String aAdminPassword, String masterOnly, String& aErrorLog)

30-01-2018 16-54-44.179: Info - Initializing VMS components failed

30-01-2018 16-54-44.179: Error - GlobalInit of c# library fails, hResult:0, return:-1

Could someone suggest what exactly is going wrong here?
