Power save mode default on windows server 2016!

Problem:

After a fresh installation of xprotect essential+ on a windows 2016

server with

All working fine except the mobile service. first I notice crashing

images in the mobile client app. as well on the web client. this started when I

try to zoom in on a camera image in live view. the image was flashing grey

every second. I was also connected with the windows client at the same moment.

this image kept clear with good quality. All was looking normal on the server.

only 10% cpu en mem was under 50%. No errors in the log. after switching from

cameras in the mobile client app I notice the mobile service was crashing and

was restarted automatically.

windows log:

Application: VideoOS.MobileServer.Service.exe

Framework Version: v4.0.30319

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address

Solution:

after spending days on this server I found the solution.

I notice the % maximum cpu frequency was running on ± 60% in the

resource manager. when i did a stress test on the server to trigger the need

for cpu it goes up to 100% automatic. after this I tried to trigger the need

for cpu on the xprotect services. when I changed the motion detect to 100%

detection resolution and process every 100msec the cpu went up as expected.

after another day I tried to change the default windows power settings

in control panel, power options. this was default on “Balanced”. when

I changed this option to High performance the issue with the mobile service was

solved directly!!

I’m not sure if this is some bug but normally when a system is in

balance mode it should increase the cpu clock frequency when there’s a need for

more cpu. with all other processes this is happening but not for the mobile

service.

My hardware:

Mainboard, Intel server board S5520HC dual cpu, E5605@2.13Ghz, 8GB RAM

Storage, dual 500GB SSD running raid 1, 4 x 1TB SATA running raid 5, all

on hardware raid controller.

Thank you for you feedback. It is an interesting case we haven’t met before.

We have few questions if you can help us

Kind Regards,

Svetlana
