security certificate and iOS mobile app issues

I have been using Xprotect Essential+ along with the mobile app for a few years now (both iOS and Android) and things have worked great. I recently installed the latest 2020 R1 release and decided to secure the mobile server with a SSL cerificate. I was able to obtain a certificate and install it on the server. I verified the cert is working using a browser connection - no problems there with multiple browsers showing a secure connection. I’ve also been able to get a secure connection using the Android app, but things have been a little problematic with iOS. It seems that on my iPhone with the latest iOS version of the app the secure connection will only sometimes work. It could work a few times and then all of a sudden throw up a Invalid Cerificate error. I can access the server on the same device using the mobile browser no problem. The only resolution seems to be deleting and re-adding the server in the mobile app. This will make the connection work for a while, but will eventually fail again? What could be the problem here? The certificate must be good as it works perfectly fine using a web browser and Android app. Could this have something to do with automatically discovered server addresses causing a conflict? I set up my server manually, but have 2 additional auto discovered ones in the edit connections screen of the app. Any ideas?
