Setting up the Screen Recorder?

I am setting up a basic development environment for developing an XProtect SmartClient plugin. My first question is whether I need to purchase real cameras or will it be good enough to use the Screen Recorder?

If the Screen Recorder is enough, well, I need help installing it. I have found and downloaded the MilestoneXProtectScreenRecorderInstaller.exe. I have run it as Administrator. But, I never reached the configuration part of the setup program as described on the page:

I tried adding hardware in the Management Client but it doesn’t find the screen recorder.

The “Milestone XProtect Screen Recorder” service is running.

I would be grateful for help.

For a development environment it would be good to have a IP camera, but you can use other options like a camera emulator (or screen recorder as you mention).

I most often recommend using the StableFPS camera emulator.

The Screen Recorder should be OK. But for support installing it, please ask again in the support community, you should get better help from the partners using the support community.
