Support for .NET (6.0.29)

The challenge is that my client says that the computer is out of compliance with the organization because the latest version of .NET (6.0.29) is not supported by Milestone. In order to get things to work, we had to rollback to 6.0.16. This is a major issue for them due to compliance requirements. I need to know when support for the latest version of .NET will be available. I am concerned that the next time Microsoft runs an update, the system will go offline again. Thank you.

I am a bit confused because my understanding is that when using the MIP Library there is a dependency on .NET Framework, which means that neither of the mentioned .NET would work.

My understanding is also that when it comes to using the Milestone protocol there is no dependency whatsoever and you can use any version as well as implement solutions with no .NET whatsoever.

Maybe you have used something in your solution when developing it that might introduce a dependency of a certain .NET.

Maybe you can explain the issue closer and perhaps there is something I or Milestone Development can help with when understanding the issue closer.

Hi Bo. Thank you for your response. The issue occurred when Windows did an update this past Sunday. It changed the .NET software to the latest version on the machine running the Management and Recording servers. This caused Milestone to stop working and took the Recording server offline. When I called Milestone Tech Support, they told me that ASP.NET<http://ASP.NET> was missing and that I needed to re-install and match versions. When I did that, it didn’t work so I called support again. This time they told me that the version that was installed by Microsoft update (6.0.29) was not supported by Milestone. So we uninstalled that version and downloaded and installed the version that we knew was supported (6.0.16). Everything started working again.

However, my client has a compliance rule that says that all software running on their machines needs to be supported by the latest version of Microsoft software. So, my question is when will Milestone support the latest version of the .NET software (6.0.29)? This is a compliance issue for my client and I’d like to get them an answer.

I will try to follow up, but just to be sure: The issue is that the core VMS stops working after upgrade of .NET, right? Not related to any integration?
