Support for RTSP URLs in Logical Names & Manual DNS Mapping in Milestone VMS

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working with Milestone VMS and have a couple of questions regarding RTSP stream configurations:

  1. RTSP URLs with Logical Names:
  • Is there a way to configure cameras using RTSP URLs with logical names instead of specifying IP addresses and port numbers?
  • This would be particularly useful in dynamic environments where IP addresses change frequently, making logical names or hostnames a better alternative.
  1. Manual DNS Mapping:
  • Does Milestone VMS allow for manual DNS mapping to associate logical names with specific IP addresses within the system?
  • If not, are there any workarounds or recommended practices for handling DNS-based camera configurations?

Any insights, workarounds, or official documentation references would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
