Hi,
I had develop small program to retrieve the recording duration for but encounter error ‘Unable to connect to toolkit!’ There is no error if the program is execute in server side. It only happen when execute from others PC. FYI, I’m referring to Media Playback View & it also not able to view from others PC. Is there any way to solve this?
Thanks.
The Media Playback Viewer sample has two “Open file” options, these can only be used for off-line files (not in a running system) and I think they have to be local files. Are you perhaps trying to use it this way?
If you encounter this while using “Login to a server” option, can you please try with the Smart Client for reference, does the Smart Client in the same PC and using the same user work?
Thanks for your advice. i wish to having online recording duration view. if there is no any option, the only way is to run the program in server side. Currently smart client viewing in server, didn’t try on PC yet
I would like to clarify. If you use “Open file” option, being in the server itself, it is very important that you do so while the Milestone services are running!
(Media Playback Viewer using “Open file” and the Milestone recording server will not share the files and an error situation will arise.)
If the services are running you must use the “Login to server” option. This one will work over network (if not you have an issue and should troubleshoot).
You could say that the “Open file” option is only to be used if you have exported or copied footage from an XProtect VMS, or a decommissioned XProtect, and is not to be used if you have a running XProtect.
i always using “Login to Server” option. i had try the to view the video via Smart Client over the network [VPN Connection - not sure will this cause the issue] the smart client return warning during launching “Could not load type ‘VideoOS.Platform.Client.SettingsPanelPlugin’”. I also trying to login Management Client, it able to login but the camera preview is not available.
To me it seems a new situation now not related to your first question. Consider starting a new thread asking a new question..
I believe this one will fit -
