Upgrading to 2021R1 seems to cause issues with configured Access Control Systems?

Hi,

We recently found an issue with our access control integration when upgrading from Milestone 2020R3 to 2021R1.

Before upgrading, the milestone server had five access control systems configured and saved, each one with configuration for communicating with a different Access Control Server. These configured systems were functioning correctly before the upgrade.

After upgrade however, only two of these access control systems remained in the Milestone system.

Also after the upgrade, when we create a new Access Control System and save it, restarting the Event Service causes the newly created System to vanish from the system. However the other two Access Control Systems remain in place after the server restart.

Hi Max!

Thanks for reaching out here in the forum.

To provide more help on this topic, I’d like to ask you a little bit more of useful information, such as:

  • System setup
  • A list of Plugins you are using
  • Have you done any updates previously despite the one you mentioned?

Please, come back with this info to move forward with this investigation.

Hope you have a great day!

Regards,

Fer

Hi I’ve done my best to answer your questions. Please feel free to let me know if further information is required.

  • System setup

Before upgrading the server was a 2020R3 Milestone installation. We upgraded from that version to 2021R1 (version 21.1b build 12177) and after the upgrade encountered the issue where the access control systems were missing from the Milestone system.

The server is Windows Server 2019 x64 Standard.

All Milestone components are installed on the single server

  • A list of Plugins you are using

The only plugin we are using is our Gallagher Access control Plugin.

  • Have you done any updates previously despite the one you mentioned?

We believe this server was previously upgraded to 2020R3 from an older version of Milestone 2019 R3

Hi Max,

Thanks for your replay and sorry for my delay.

As you have noted, I can confirm that there’s an issue in some upgrade scenarios, indeed.

Expect the fix for this issue to be delivered in the next version.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Fer

Hi,

We have noticed this issue has reoccurred when upgrading from 2020 R2 to 2022 R2.

Are you please able to confirm if the upgrade scenarios found previously are fixed in 2022 R2?

Thanks

Hi Max,

We can confirm that upgrading from 2020.R2 to 2022.R2, using multiple ACS connected to the same Event Server, finishes without any issues.

Could you elaborate on your current VMS+ACS setup?

Fer
