VPS Driver does not initiate connection with certain cameras

We have an issue on now 2 distinct customer installations where the VPS driver would never instantiate a web socket connection to our VPS Service. Both installation are Milestone 2020R1 or higher. Our web socket implementation is based on the VPS toolkit sample.

With these cases in the management client the VPS camera and metadata device always have a blue square associated to them. I can’t reproduce this state on any of my test machines. Even if the VPS Service is not reachable or stopped it will have a yellow warning icon - or a play icon if it’s currently trying to connect.

Are there any stream settings that can prevent the VPS driver to forward the stream? Is there anything else I can do the debug the VPS driver?

I also attached a screen shot of the stream settings of one of the affected devices (a Panasonic camera).

  1. I need some more information, can you send the XProtect log files and log file from the VPService machine.
  2. Can you ping the vpsservice machine from the XProtect machine?
  3. Are you using port 5000 in the VPS service URL (http://machinename:5000/gstreamer/pipelines//vpsboundingboxes) ?
