We are a company that has a video analytics system for reading license plates from camera images (LPR – License Plate Recognition), and we would like to integrate license plate reading (LPR) into XProtect.

We also want to send the plate number text to XProtect. For example our platform outputs text “ABC1234”. What can be done in this case?

The main issue here is that Milestone XProtect LPR support cannot really be combined with external products so unfortunately, Milestone XProtect LPR doesn’t support to send text.

On the other hand, if you use Analytics events, then you can send your text using header. Please see this link –

In the page, there is “Custom Tag” and it might be a good candidate for you to send your customized texts.

I have a doubt. It’s possible set up and integrate our LPR System (named PlateView) with the Milestone VMS, instead the XProtect LPR?

Yes, if not having MIlestone LPR the integration would in that case not have the LPR workspace (tab) in the Smart Client, but much of the functionality can be implemented “just” using Analytics Events, and you can implement your own Smart Client workspace if you find it needed.
