When searching in Express mode, a 16-channel ONVIF NVR device cannot be discovered. However, packet capture shows that Xprotect successfully connects to the device and sends ONVIF GetServices and GetNetworkInterfaces requests, but no subsequent requests are made, and the ONVIF NVR device does not appear in the search results.
After testing and analyzing the logs, it is suspected that during the Xprotect Express discovery process, multi-channel devices are treated by Xprotect as ONVIF16, after which the log reports “CHANNEL_LICENSING is ON”, causing the multi-channel device to be ignored: “CHANNEL_LICENSING is ON, suppressing all devices for ONVIF16”
However, the ONVIF NVR device can be discovered and added through an IP Range search, indicating that this is not a licensing issue.
This is a major inconvenience for users of ONVIF NVR devices.
Could this be a bug in Xprotect? Can it be fixed?
Thank you.
